Abstract

Westinghouse, a major NSSS service vendor, has been developing remote tooling systems for its use in nuclear steam generators since the early 1970's. This paper reviews the advancement in the Westinghouse robotics and remote tooling from simple task-specific manipulators to the microprocessor-controlled ROSA (Remotely Operated

Service Arm) general purpose tool manipulator. This paper is being presented today in order to provide a brief summary of how Westinghouse, as a major NSSS vendor, developed its remote tooling and robotics program.
