Nuclear Fuel Element Recovery Using PEDSCO RMI Unit

Abstract

In September 1982, a PEDSCO Remote Mobile Investigation Unit was used to recover damaged 1rrad1ated fuel elements from a fue11ng machine and trolley deck at Bruce Nuclear Generating Stat1on 'A'. This Canadian-made remote controlled vehicle was originally designed for explosive ordinance disposal by law enforcement agencies. Th1s paper describes its adaptation to nuclear service and its first mission, within a nuclear facility.
