Snubbers: Operating Problems Present Day Solutions
Main Article Content
Abstract
Approximately 100 snubbers are installed in each CANDU unit (Bruce B and the first four CANDU 600's) licensed circa 1980. Light Water Reactors licensed in the same era typically have 1000 to 2000 snubbers in each unit (3). Experience has shown that snubbers pose a safety hazard and represent an important economical burden for any operating nuclear power plant. Work and studies performed by AECL clearly indicate that a good snubber is a gone snubber.
