The Predictive Maintenance Program on Rotating Equipment at the Bruce Heavy Water Plant
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Predictive Maintenance Program (PMP) on rotating equipment at the Bruce Heavy Water Plant (BHWP) has been greatly enhanced by the purchase of the Vitec DC+ Data Collector, along with its associated software and a computer. This equipment, which was purchased by the Maintenance Unit in 1986, allows rotating equipment to be monitored and analysed more effectively, and with less resources, than was previously possible. The reason for this increased effectiveness is the equipment's ability to more easily take readings in the field, and to generate trend data and vibration frequency spectrums quickly and accurately. This data quickly identifies problem areas which may require close monitoring, more detailed analysis and/or immediate repairs. The end result is that timely repairs are made in a planned, orderly manner before an unsafe condition or serious damage occurs. The following Vitec DC+ PMP Flowchart is provided as a summary of the Predictive Maintenance Program on rotating equipment at BHWP.
