Abstract

The use of the expertise of external contractors for unique tasks is more frequently becoming the norm of the nuclear industry. As a result, utilities are faced with the challenges of selecting the correct contractor to perform the work and then controlling the vendor during the execution of that work. Rochester Gas and Electric had the unique opportunity of selecting and controlling a foreign, non-English speaking vendor for a task involving the disassembly and reassembly of the reactor upper internals.
