Anticipating Maintenance Needs of Ontario Hydro's Nuclear Power Plants

Abstract

This paper is designed to outline maintenance needs in the mid-1990s - 5 to 10 years from now. Examples in the areas of Maintenance Strategies, External Influences and Future Tooling are presented in order to describe the nature of the maintenance cha L lenges . The paper c.oncludes that while the needs in some areas can be reasonably well defined, other areas remain uncertain. The implication is that while proactive maintenance is necessary, provision mbst be made to accommodate the unforeseen maintenance challenges which will undoubtably materialize.
