Expected Reactivity Effect of Fuel Channel Coolant 77 Boiling in the Darlington NGS A Reactor Core

Abstract

We have developed a formalism for estimating the expected reactivity due to channel boiling in any reactor designed to have some quality in the channel. In applying this formalism to the Darlington NGS A equilibrium core, we calculate a value of 0.024 + 0.003 mk at 100% power operation.
