Abstract

Plant Optimization studies require simple models of plant components. If neither the primary nor secondary sides are fixed, for example if both primary and secondary pressures are taken as independent variables, then a simple steam generator model is needed. The CANDU steam generator can be modelled by taking the heat transferred as proportional to the primary to secondary temperature difference at the pinch point. Then the effect of changes in secondary conditions on primary temperatures can be calculated. The results have been compared to NUCIRC code predictions for two cases, firstly a change in feedwater temperature and secondly a change in both feedwater and steam temperature. Differences between the results of the two models are discussed.
