Abstract
A study of the performance of the Emergency Core Cooling System (ECCS) in a CANDU reactor has been done using AECL's FIREBIRD III (MOD 1) computer code. This paper describes the simulations of large break loss-of-coolant-accident transients which were performed to scope the sensitivity of the fuel sheath temperatures and rewet times to changes in the following parameters: asymmetric orificing of the ECC injection lines, ECC injection pressure, ECC injection timing, and availability of Unit Class IV power, and timing of PHT pump trip.
