SOPHT Simulation of Valve Failures in the Heat Transport System of Bruce NGS-B
Main Article Content
Abstract
The SOPHT thermohydraulic and plant simulation code is used to study consequences of failures of a number of different valves in the heat transport system of Bruce NGS-B. It is found that the automatic control system will shut down the reactor and will maintain fuel cooling. However, this safety system action could result in a serious economic penalty. Results of the simulation are, therefore, used to propose system modifications and/or operator action that would ensure a controlled reactor shutdown and minimize economic losses.
