Human System Integration for SMR Nuclear Security Personnel
Main Article Content
Abstract
SMR scale variations, economics, and remote locations present challenges for developing security staffing models and how the response force will be equipped and deployed. There is likely to be an introduction of new technology and security system methods to overcome the security challenges. Effective human systems integration is critical for exploiting new technology, training, and methods to optimise situational awareness, and includes defining the threats and environment they face, and test and evaluation of current and future technology, equipment, and practices. Military soldier system programs have a long history of overcoming similar challenges. A human systems integration model is presented and used to categorize human systems integration Human Factors activities and recommendations based on examples from the military domain. The objective of the recommendations is to improve the Human Factors Engineering activities of SMR programs to optimise security personnel performance, which will improve the safety of individuals at the SMR site and in the surrounding community.
