Thermal Efficiencies of Modern Advanced NPPs with High-Temperature Reactors

Abstract

Currently, one of the “hot” topics in the world nuclear-power industry is Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). Approximately 108 SMRs concepts are under development in the world. However, only 4 SMRs of two types are in operation and several more SMRs are under construction. Technical information on SMRs is quite limited to just concept parameters or design parameters. Also, SMRs have to be connected to power cycles and this information is even less known. Therefore, it is important to estimate possible power cycles and their efficiencies, at least, for operating and under construction selected Generation-IV SMR Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs).
