CNSC Draft REGDOC-2.4.5, Nuclear Fuel Safety

Abstract

CNSC staff have developed REGDOC-2.4.5, Nuclear Fuel Safety to codify regulatory requirements and guidance. The primary objective of the regulatory document is to clarify requirements for existing and new CANDU fuel designs, yet remain as technology-neutral as practically achievable in order to be applicable to new innovative fuel designs. This REGDOC covers the fuel program, the design, qualification, fitness for service, monitoring and inspection, and operating limits and conditions for nuclear fuel.
