Bison Analyses of Fuel Forms used in Small Modular Reactors
Main Article Content
Abstract
Small modular reactors (SMRs) are reactors designed for small scale electrical generation with output powers typically below 300 MWe . These reactors are being explored for more flexible operation and providing electricity to underserved remote communities. Many nations throughout the world are pursuing the inclusion of SMRs in their energy portfolio. The fuel vendors and designers of SMRs have proposed reactor concepts that utilize many different fuel types including metallic and tri-structural isotropic (TRISO) fuel particles. This paper summarizes the Bison fuel performance codes capabilities for analyzing the fuel performance of metallic and TRISO fuel forms.
