A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE USE OF MATHEMATICS IN THE FIELD OF NUCLEAR ENGINEERING
Main Article Content
Abstract
Any field requiring lots of mathematics must be complicated and any complicated field requires lots of mathematics. In order for this statement to be true, both of the sub-statements must be true. That is “logic 101”. Mathematical logic is just one of the fields of mathematics utilized when performing various analyses in the nuclear engineering field. Needless to say, this paper covers a subject which could be considered somewhat non-traditional for the CNS Annual Conferences, albeit it is still important. Its objective is to provide, through examples, some answers to the question of how much mathematical knowledge is required in the nuclear engineering field. It should also serve as a useful reference for those who consider having a career in this very exciting field.
