Qualification of Radiation Transport Code Attila to CSA N286.7 Standard
Main Article Content
Abstract
Kinectrics is currently qualifying the radiation transport code Attila to ensure compliance with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) N286.7. Attila is a radiation transport suite developed by Silver Fir Software with CAD integration and includes the Attila deterministic solver and a feature that acts as a front end for Monte Carlo N Particle (MCNP) calculations called Attila4MC.
In order to meet the requirements for validation of software outlined in CSA N286.7, a series of problems taken from the Silver Fir support site and Shielding Integral Benchmark Archive and Database (SINBAD), were solved with the Attila Deterministic Solver and Attila4MC and then compared to experimental results and/or results from another qualified code (mainly MCNP Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) results). The results obtained with Attila and Attila4MC were considered acceptable if they were within 20% of the experimental results or results from another radiation transport code provided in the SINBAD test case.
The qualification activities described above are currently ongoing at Kinectrics. Once qualified, Kinectrics will use Attila for a variety of radiation shielding and dose assessment problems.
