Abstract

Generating hydrogen (H2) by electrolysis using water and electricity has a large potential to maximize energy utilization. E.g. 100MW used about 10h each day for electrolysis will produce about 16 tons of H2 day by day, enough to fuel a fleet of 530 buses, running 160 000km each day.

Coupling large scale H2 production plants to nuclear power plants (NPP) will allow multi-energy systems that integrate nuclear power into many other sectors, such as chemical processes, steel production, mobility and many more.

But can such large scale solutions at NPPs already be realized today?

The presentation gives an insight into the state-of-the-art concerning of products, technologies, suppliers and realized projects.
