Modelling Aspects in Vault Chemistry

Abstract

The procedure for producing a probabilistic safety assessment of nuclear fuel waste disposal involves the development of detailed Research Interface Models, to analyze the processes to be considered. The results of these analyses are then used to develop simple Assessment Interface Models, which produce results consistent with the detailed models over the range of conditions required for the assessment. The present paper illustrates this procedure for processes related to the performance of the disposal vault.
