Abstract

The ADORE algorithm for performing the optimization of regional overpower protection (ROP) system for CANDU reactors have been recently developed. Within this algorithm, the evaluation of trip set point (TSP) corresponding to the detector layout for a particular history is done probabilistically using the ROVER-F code. Reduction in the number of fuelling ripples used in this evaluation will lower the overall optimization execution time. This approach has been investigated. Results presented in this paper indicate that a speedup of up to around 40 times is attainable when this approach is utilized.
