Design Requirements for New Nuclear Reactor Facilities in Canada
Main Article Content
Abstract
CNSC has published regulatory documents to provide the requirements for the design and safety analysis of new nuclear reactor facilities, regardless of size. These documents were developed in a technology neutral approach to be applicable for a water cooled reactor. This paper highlights two aspects of these documents: 1. The use of graded approach to make the documents applicable for a wide variety of nuclear reactor facilities; 2. Design requirements that are new and different from past Canadian practice. This paper presents some of the proposed changes to the documents to implement the recommendations of CNSC Task Force report.
