Spent Fuel Storage Bay Cooling System, Modelling and Analysis
Main Article Content
Abstract
An engineering study was prepared for New Brunswick Power, Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station (PLNGS) to evaluate the capability of the Spent Fuel Storage Bay Cooling (SFSB) System to reject the heat radiation load of a complete reactor core fuel discharge. The objective of the study was to develop a mathematical model capable of predicting the Spent Fuel Bay water temperature during the period the reactor fuel bundles were being placed in the bay for long term storage. Three periods were contemplated, 35, 38, and 40 days. The final water temperature predicted in each case was compared to the design limit temperature.
