Developing Systematic Maintenance & Aging Management Programs

Abstract

AECL’s Plant Life Management (PLiM) capabilities emphasize an integrated approach that fits well with the industry direction to follow industry best practices such as INPO AP-913. Integrated assessment processes supported by software tools, such as AECL’s SYSTMS, combined with knowledge databases available for direct application in these assessments has many benefits. This paper considers how these benefits contribute to the development of best practice maintenance and aging management programs. Enhanced abilities such as implementation of Maintenance Based Design, as is being applied to the ACR-1000, and ongoing developments such as Risk Based techniques are also considered.
