Decay Heat Power Comparisons Between ORIGEN-S Code and ANSI/ANS-5.1-2005 Standard

Abstract

Decay heat power calculations are important for heat sink analysis of reactor configurations after shutdown. This paper presents CANDU6 decay heat power comparisons between the ORIGEN-S code and the ANSI/ANS-5.1-2005 standard. Such comparisons have been performed for a specific operating period of 4560 bundles in the CANDU6 reactor core at PLGS. Application of the standard to CANDU reactors and limiting conditions are discussed.
