Comparison of Predicted and Measured Data of Deformation of Prestressed Containment

Abstract
Two nuclear power plants are in operation in the Czech Republic. In terms of passive safety monitoring, the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant is in particular equipped with many sensors that provide objective data on the state of this pre-stressed concrete structure. In Article [1], we analyzed in detail the data that was available until 2003, and based on this data, a computational model was prepared to predict behavior in the future. In 2008 [2], the issue of a significant increase in the number of prestressed bridges of larger margins began to be discussed. It has been shown that the procedures set out in the standards considerably underestimate creep. That is why we have returned to the analysis of deformation development of the Temelín nuclear power plant. From the point of view of computational mechanics this is a significant opportunity for validation of the used simulation model. From an engineering point of view, this is important for assessing durability. Research of creep after 2008, using long-term experiments, suggests that the originally unexpected creep acceleration is a critical factor in W / C. Since the water / cement ratio at the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant was 0.42, the prediction of both the increase in deformations and the loss of prestressing was in good consistency in the measured data.
