Innovative Approaches to SMR Licensing in Canada

Abstract

Many SMR vendors are contemplating Canada as the first country for deployment of their design, because of Canada's unique market opportunities and because Canada's nuclear regulatory framework achieves high safety standards without being overly prescriptive.  This presentation briefly describes the regulatory framework and how innovating within the framework can achieve predictable licensing cost and schedule for a new SMR design.
