Progress in the Development of Thoria Fuel Science & Technology

Abstract

This paper describes recent efforts at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (formerly AECL) to address identified thoria fuel science and technology gaps that are of interest to the CANDU community, including the development of collaborations. Recent advances in pellet fabrication, ceramography, materials properties characterization, performance modelling, safety-related testing, defect behaviour and reprocessing are presented.
