Significance of Developing Advanced Fuel CANDU Reactor Technology in China and the General Requirements for AFCR

Abstract

Upon the demands of energy source structural adjustment and environmental optimization, the future nuclear power of China is anticipated to be continuously developing quickly. The system consturction for supply and reprocess of nuclear fuel will be the most attentioned part at the progress of nucear power development. Advanced Fuel CANDU Reactor will play an active and important role in mitigating the condition of strained nuclear fuel supply, in promoting the reprocess industry of nuclear fuel, and in supplementing the Closed Fuel Cycle System. In addition, the latest issue of Chinese Nuclear Power Safety Development Porgram, the operational practice of CANDU6, and the equipment localization requirements, should all be actively considered at the design of Advanced Fuel CANDU Reactor.
