Abstract
In August 1983, a pressure tube failure in channel Gl6 occurred in the Pickering Unit 2 reactor. Intensive investigations following that incident resulted in a decision in March 1984, that all pressure tubes in both units 1 and 2 would be replaced. This paper describes the overall process adopted for the replacement of the pressure
tubes, progress and main problems encountered to date, as well as the evolution of the Project Organization. Several more detailed papers describing certain areas/facilities of the project will follow this presentation. This paper will act as a general introduction to those papers.
