Proposed On-Line Automatic Vibration Monitoring and Diagnostic System in Nuclear Generating Stations

Abstract
The proposed on-line automatic vibration monitoring system is computer-aided and using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) microprocessor provides alarms, trends, and accurate diagnostics of deteriorating rotating machine components. Nuclear generating stations have critical rotating machinery, sane not easily accessible, which when monitored by an on-line automatic vibration monitoring system allow continuous power operation with fewer interruptions. Timely detection of the deteriorating machine component leads to reduced downtime and maintenance cost. Diagnosis is in straight-forward direct language and is obtained quickly. This paper describes the automatic system and its advantages are discussed.
