Leaching Studies of Low-Level Radioactive Waste Forms
Main Article Content
Abstract
A research program has been underway at theBrookhaven National Laboratory to investigate therelease of radionuclides from low-level waste formsunder laboratory conditions. This paper describesthe leaching behavior of Cs-137 from two major l&level waste streams, that is, ion exchange beadresin and boric acid concentrate, solidified inPortland cement. The resultant leach data areemployed to evaluate and predict the release behaviorof Cs-137 from lorlevel waste forme under fieldburial conditions.
