Abstract

In this work density wave oscillations are studied. This phenomenon have been widely studied for boiling systems with sub-cooled inlet condition in the past. The main purpose of this work is to characterize the stability region of boiling and condensing systems for sub-cooled and saturated inlet conditions. Stabilitymaps, based on the sub-cooling and the phase-change numbers, are constructed. The limits of the unstable regions are identified and characterized. Finally some numerical simulations are presented in order to describe the nature of the involved phenomena. A high-order numerical solver, based on a homogenous two-phase model for a single boiling channel is implemented.
