Electronic Information Management on the QINSHAN CANDU Project

Abstract

The Qinshan CANDU Project is a two 728 MWe CANDU 6 reactor nuclear power plant currently being built on the shore of Hangzhou Bay 126 km southwest of Shanghai in the People's Republic of China. AECL, the nuclear steam plant designer, equipment supplier, construction and commissioning manager as well as the overall project manager, is utilizing a suite of state-of-the-art integrated electronic engineering as well as project management and control information technology based tools on the project. This paper describes these tools, their use, and the benefits the project is realizing from their use as well the impact these tools and the information they have captured will have on the operation and performance of the plant.
