Comparison of FIREBIRD Code Predictions with Westinghouse Canada Limited Cold Water Injection Experiments
Main Article Content
Abstract
As part of a program to assess its reliability, the thermohydraulics network computer code FIREBIRD has been used to predict the results of three cold water injection tests done at Westinghouse Canada Limited. The tests involved the injection of water into one end of a single channel containing superheated steam and a 6-meter horizontal 37-element heated bundle. Predictions for the high injection pressure test are good, while agreement with the low injection pressure tests is reasonable. Finally, we have compared predictions of the network and non-network versions of FIREBIRD for the high injection pressure test, and find them to be in good agreement.
