Abstract

As a step in the flux mapping or channel power mapping design process, algebraic evaluation of alternate detector layouts based on the properties of the modal coupling matrix MTM has significant conceptual and computational benefits. In this paper we derive and interpret a detector layout ranking criterion based on the eigenvalues of the MTM matrix, and discuss the theoretical and practical implications of using this and other related algebraic evaluation criteria flux mapping detector layout design.
