Seismic Reliability Proving Program at NUPEC, Japan
Main Article Content
Abstract
Japan is a country of earthquake, and the public is concerned of the possibility of large-scale earthquakes. Since the seismic design is composed of complex calculation procedures, however, the validity of analytical techniques is not always easily understood by the general public. For this reason, it is concluded necessary to actually confirm the seismic safety and reliability of large-scale simulated models representing the actual systems, components and equipment by using the appropriate vibration test facilities. The facility including the large-scale vibration table completed at Tadotsu Engineering Laboratory of NUPEC under assistance of the M.I.T.I. in July, 1982. Since this vibration table has the very large-scale it held many technical problems to solve. Therefore, the fundamental design was discussed from the technical standpoints over a wide range is the Seismic Reliability Research Committee advice agency for the M.I.T.I. and as a result, completed in full reflection of its technical advices.
