Highlights of ITER R&D in U.S.A.

Abstract

The U.S. Home Team, in close collaboration with the ITER Joint Central Team and otherHome Teams, performs certain technology R&D tasks for the ITER Project. This paperprovides an overview and update of the current status of such tasks. The U.S. HomeTeam devotes most of its effort to the Central Solenoid Model Coil and the Divertor Cassetteprojects. Additional efforts are devoted to safety issues, limiter components, vacuumvessel welding, ion cyclotron heating components, fueling and tritium components and diagnostics.The main objectives of the Engineering Design Activities phase are expected tobe achieved.
