Abstract

Neutron-sensitive bubble detectors were chosen as the primary detection tool to survey the doseequivalent received by aircrew exposed to natural radiation. As part of the qualification criterion, a novelmicro-environmental cell was designed, assembled and tested. This apparatus is capable of simulating theclimate, i.e., pressure, temperature and relative humidity, inside a jet aircraft while irradiating bubble detectorsin-situ. The cell environment was manipulated using an on-line control and data acquisition system developedusing LabView software.
