Local Heat Transfer Analysis for LMFBR Wire Wrapped Rod Bundle
Main Article Content
Abstract
The effects of the helical wires on the velocity and temperature distributions around the fuel pin in a fast breeder reactor assembly were analyzed. A computer program HEATRAN was developed to solve a system of transient three-dimensional mass, momentum and energy transport equations within a local subchannel. A rota ting coordinate transformation was per formed to minimize the use of the irregular boundary condition within each computational fluid cell. To model the interaction between subchannels, two different outside boundary conditions were investigated, isolated and physical. Velocity field results of these analyses were compared with the Westinghouse Isothermal Air Flow Experiment.
