SORGHUM Simulation of Bruce NGS A Boosters

Abstract

A Xenon override test using a new booster withdrawal sequence was performed in April 1978, on Unit 2, at Bruce NGS "A". The results of the test showed that the new sequence is. operationally feasible and that individual parameters such as detector readings, channel powers, booster powers and override time could be adequately predicted with the SORGHUM code. Changes to the code needed to obtain good results include a new mesh size, empirically derived booster properties and improved xenon and iodine properties. The A.E.C.B. has accepted the suggested trip set points.
