FACTAR_SS Initial Fuel Conditions for Fuel Channel Transient Simulations

Abstract

FACTAR_SS provides the initial fuel element conditions, at the start of an accident simulation, for each fuel element m a fuel channel The radial temperature distribution, initial stored energy, fission product release, internal gas pressure, etc. can be predicted once the power/burnup history of each fuel element is known. FACTAR-SS provides the individual power/burnup histories for each fuel element and assesses fuel performance over these histories. Code predictions have been validated against station data and experiments.
