Challenges for Reactor Operators

Abstract

A Unit First Operator is a key individual in the overall reliability and safety of a nuclear power plant. To permit him to fulfill his duties it is encumbent on everyone to consider his needs. Such consideration involves an adequate description of his role, the implementation of a high quality training program, avoiding complexity in design and analyzing his errors to determine the underlying causes.
