THYC-3D A Computer Code for Thermalhydraulic Analysis

Abstract
A three dimensional thermal hydraulics computer code "THYC-3D" has been developed. The code solves the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy using control volume based discretisation method and deals with single phase Newtonian fluids. The main features of THYC-3D and details of validation studies are presented. Application of WYC-3D to PFBR problems is illustrated by two examples. In the first example, the flow field analysis in a 3/5 scale water model of PFBR SG inlet plenum is carried out in the direction of identifying a suitable geometrical configuration which can assure an acceptable uniform flow through its inner shell. In the second example, the flow field has been obtained to find out the cross flow velocity data in the expansion bend region of PFBR SG.
