Abstract

In one of the experiments simulating the pressure tube circumferential differential temperature in the boil off series, the pressure tube ruptured. This test has been re-simulated with better fuel element simulator. The objective of this paper is to analyze the results obtained from the second simulation of this Boil-Off test (S-5-1) using the SMARTT computer code. The simulation results are compared with the experimental results for code verification. The improvement to the SMARTT code and the effect of sheath emissivity on the simulation are also presented.
