Interactive Graphics Driven Simulator for EBR-II

Abstract

Efforts have been undertaken at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) to develop a full fidelity, interactive, real-time reactor plant simulator for Liquid Metal Reactors (LMRs). This full-scope simulator has been integrated with a sophisticated graphical user interface which allows the operator/analyst to dynamically change any plant variables and to view the real time response to the inputs on dynamic, high-resolution color-graphic displays. This simulator technology will be a powerful design and safety analysis tool at EBR-II for areas where human interactions are crucial to maintaining high safety margins and reducing penalizing challenges to plant availability goals.
