Flashing Two-Phase Flow in High Pressure High Temperature Blowdown Through a Nozzle
Main Article Content
Abstract
An experimental facility was constructed and instrumented to measure the piping reaction forces caused by a flashing two-phase jet during high-pressure, high-temperature blowdowns. A total of 20 tests were performed, covering four pipe rupture angles (O degrees, 15 degrees, 30 degrees and 45 degrees) and five reservoir conditions (175 degrees C to 265 degrees C). It was found that the magnitude of the force increased rapidly with the liquid enthalpy in the reservoir but not affected by the pipe rupture angle. The angle of the reaction force, on the other hand, changed with the pipe rupture angle and also increased with the reservoir pressure and temperature.
