Innovative Maintenance Techniques in Generation Excitation System

Abstract

The use of higher power and larger equipments created new problems during the plant operation. One of these are the excessive abrasion in excitation collector rings and brushes. This study will be used to diagnose specific problems without major disassembly and physical inspections. This document describes in detail the excitation system collector ring and brushes and its requirements and controls, showing the results of one on going program to monitor abrasion on its components.
