Leak Sealing on Ancillary Cooling Circuits of CANDU Reactors Bruce NGS-A

Abstract

Initially developed to cure problems in the cooling systems of the pre-stressed concrete pressure vessels of UK reactors, a sealant has been used to repair leaking bioshield pipework on six CANDU reactors. This paper describes the evolution of the sealants used, the qualification and testing programme and their application to CANDU reactor systems.
