The Improved Induction Heating Technique for Calandria Tube Rolled Joint Separation

Abstract

The Fast Induction Heating technique was developed for the single fuel channel replacement program. This technique was successfully used in separating the calandria tube-calandria tube insert-rolled joints in both the Pickering "A" NGS (P2G16) and the Bruce "A" NGS (B2N06) . This paper describes two major improvements in the induction heating technique which is used for rolled joint separation: equipment and process, The improvements described herein simplify the rolled joint separation technique and make it more attractive for both single and large scale fuel channel replacement.
