MOV Operability Determination

Abstract

This paper presents a technical approach for meeting the operability requirements of NRC GL 89-10. This technical approach will determine the design-basis requirements, verify equipment, determine the required forces to operate the MOV, evaluate the capability of the MOV, establish a target window that the MOV can operate, and justify operability. Alternatives are provide for justifying operability, and a sample operability review is provided for review. This paper is applicable for gate and globe valves with Limitorque operators.
