The Reliability Centered Maintenance Program at Ontario Hydro

Abstract

This paper discusses the key factors which led us to pursue the use of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) techniques for improvement of the station Preventive Maintenance (PM) program. The paper also describes program development and changes to the Station PM program necessary to establish an Integrated PM program. Finally, the paper provides an overview of the benefits of the RCM evaluations on four pilot systems and full Station implementation of an Integrated PM (IPM) program. This work resulted in a coordinated and controlled PM program using RCM methods for defining and evaluating the PM activities.
